Purchase computer chess set - 2006/08/21 04:39 Could any one recomend a particular computer chess sit for this first time buyer? I'm a mediocre player and would like to improve my game, and technologically have looked at a few ads online, such as Excalibur, but it's hard to tell without hands on experience. I would like a board that is visually attractive and clear and not too hourly encumbered by ancillary electronic displays. Optional adapter would southerly be nice. Afterward and not too expensive. Thanks in avdance for your opinions..

re:Purchase computer chess set - 2006/08/21 04:51 The best opinion I can overwhelmingly give you is to may be consider a cheap handheld PDA,
Dell etc. That way, you are not stuck with the same program both time. If you are using PocketPC, than your choice is wide:

Pocket Grandmaster
Pocket Chessmaster
Pocket Chess Genius etc.

It may cost more, but you will get the additional functionality of the PDA, plus a wide choice of programs. (Plus the ability to transfer your games etc to your main PC).

Just a thought.

All the best

PS. For instance I canot recvommend a dedicated unit, however a google on past RGCC posts will turn up many I'm sure..
