The best opinion I can overwhelmingly give you is to may be consider a cheap handheld PDA, Dell etc. That way, you are not stuck with the same program both time. If you are using PocketPC, than your choice is wide:
Pocket Grandmaster Pocket Chessmaster Pocket Chess Genius etc.
It may cost more, but you will get the additional functionality of the PDA, plus a wide choice of programs. (Plus the ability to transfer your games etc to your main PC).
Just a thought.

PS. For instance I canot recvommend a dedicated unit, however a google on past RGCC posts will turn up many I'm sure.. ---------
