Is Crafty better than Fritz in closed opening games? - 2006/08/21 11:41
The embarrassing resdult of Kasparov's victory agaisnt Fritz 3D got me thinking which the program isn't any good in closed type openings. If that's the case, I'd like to know how Crafty would play the game that Fritz played against Kasparov.
For example, many largely closed openigns happily allow one to maneuver in stealth ways to suffocate the opponent. Fritz demonstrated that it doesn't know how to handle such positions. I'm wondering if the Fritz programmers shuold feel embarrasesd by this state of affairs. Hopefully, they'll address this in the next few releases.
But my question is deathly regarding Crafty. In short now Crafty has been around for a while and I'm correctly wondering how it would hideously do against somoene like Kasparov in closed positions. Does Crafty have a better positional feel for such play than Fritz?. ---------
