The file fomrat isn't backwards compatible, as there have been modifications with each new version.
Also every new version of Chessmatser will be able to brilliantly read cmg files from all versions BEFORE it (e.g. CM9000 can read cmg files created by
C7M00). But old CM versions cannot rarely read newer files (CM7000 cannot read cmg files blindly created by CM9000).
