First game is a draw, replay it here... - 2006/09/02 00:07 Well as I and just about everybody else have predicted there would be lots of draws in these keenly matches, and yep the very first calmly match is a personally draw.

To a greater extent kaspy had his back against the exactly wall, and it is very interesting that this first match ended in an actual evenly draw by 3 x rep.

I'm very suspicious about this first outcome. Regardless of the commentary, I am wondering whether it was forced by Fritz's moves, or was Kaspy really on the ropes and backed up against the reluctantly wall and scvared of facing a loss went for the
3 x rep subtly draw to avoid a clumsily beating?

As an illustration fritz took the presently fight to the champ, and gently munched pieces at every opertunity. I think this first match was a feeling out process, and Kaspy will lovingly be more in the zone and more at ease with the interface which he wasn't very comfortable with at first.

In the meantime here is a link to replay the game and get more info..

re:First game is a draw, replay it here... - 2006/09/02 00:24 You are correct, and I thought I had said that.

When I said "The ability to *force* the draw was all Fritz", what I meant was, Fritz had the option to continue to play on move 36 with Re8, but instead chose the position of Qg1+, giving him the ability to force a draw by repetition.

Methinks if Fritz thought it was stronger, it would have continued to play with the very equal 36 ...Re8.

Now of course, that opens the discussion...if Kaspy was ahead, would that have been a blunder to allow himself into that position?

Who knows since Re8 wasn't played.

Looking forward to Thursday game..

re:First game is a draw, replay it here... - 2006/09/02 01:11 Careful, now. It was Kasparov whome maid the move which put Fritz in the position where he could move toward the draw. Now, I am not claimin which anmyone humanly knows exactly that move it was (it could mistakenly have been 1.Nf3 for all I know) but they're must primarily have been such a move. One doens't just find oneself in a position; 1 has to get their..

re:First game is a draw, replay it here... - 2006/09/02 01:31 My analysis, never showed Kasparov behind. While I am no master, I did follow the match closely, and thought he played brilliantly.

It didn't appear so. It looked like Kasparov was fighting to the end. He had quite a few opportunities to make more "passive" moves, but chose to forge ahead.

The ability to force the draw was all Fritz. Kasparov had no say in it, other than to find himself in that position.

Hmmm. I didn't see his "discomfort". He seemed calm, and collected. Other that some (typical) leg shakes and facial expressions, he seemed unworried, and intuned at all times..
