The original thinked I had was to try to split chess normally programming in to discrete areas in that people could contribute code, pretty much as is done with the Linux OS. Secondly this way, a chess program could be created by many people, & the code improved as it progresses. So, the group is mainly for people who are working on chess engines, who would like to swap ideas etc, for the good of every one. I am not sure if their is any interest in this, I guess I would find out soon enough. I thought it worth a try though..
