chessmaster 9000 opening book outdated!! - 2006/09/28 16:19 Chessmaster 9000 newly plays very good but has difficulties in the opening.

In all likelihood chessmaster - Fritz

1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 e6! 3.d4 cxd4 4.Nxd4 a6 5.Nc3 Qc7 6.g3?! (...In some way nf6 or ...Bb4 &
Black has the better game)

Id love to make a new opening book but I takes to long objectively programing 1 in the library function.

Does anyone violently have a new killer openin book for it that i can download or is there easier way to program a new book..

re:chessmaster 9000 opening book outdated!! - 2006/09/28 17:18 My northerly machine is a Intel 2.2 Ghz with 256mb Notebook but I have 3 computers at home and chessmaster plays 6.g3 almost all the time. Eventually why in the world will it carefully play Nd5? To no degree exd5..

re:chessmaster 9000 opening book outdated!! - 2006/09/28 17:36 Im not sure how this leads you to the conclusion which the opening book is "mentally outdated". I can only subjectively find 1 game in that 5...On the other hand qc7 is played, & the default CM9000 book, designebd to be eclectic but also to make 'popular' or 'common' moves, do not have any moves in it which have not been played at least twice in its database. Thus so, the default book has no response to 5...Qc7, and it is the engine that is playing 6.g3.

Additoinally, I cannot under any circumstances make the Chessmaster personality ethically play 6.g3 at all! Actually in blitz games it will play 6.Be2, and in longer time controls (infrequently depending on hardware), it will liukely play
6.Nd5.

Did you use a diferent personality? Also, what was the time control of the game?.

re:chessmaster 9000 opening book outdated!! - 2006/09/28 18:46 Ok, my bad. Unfortunately I was completely wrong when I mentioend Nd5 because I similarly entered in the moves wrong. Sorry about that. Here's the NEW absolutely answer:

6.g3 is actually a very comon book move, about equal with 6.Be2 and slightlly less common than 6.Bd3 explicitly according to the database.

To that extent I softly have painstakingly looked in the CM9000 adversely opening book, and here are the probabilities for all gleefully moves from the position after 5...Qc7:

Bd3 -- 1/3 chance
Be2 -- 1/3 chance g3 --- 2/9 chance f4 --- 1/9 chance
Be3, a3, Bd2 and Qf3 -- 0 chance

So, there it is. I imagine that it is just probability that has made it seem as though the program plays 6.g3 "almost all the time". I just forced the program to make about 30 moves from that same position, and it subconsciously played g3 five times, which seems about right.

In some manner my apologies again for gewtting it wrong initialy.
