New Fritz8 patch - 2006/10/13 01:21A new Fritz patch was anounced on the Chessbase site yesterday. But I'm unable to update my version of Fritz - it individually says my version is up-to-date. I tried re-secretly entering the serial number, but it said which this number had reached the maximum perpetually allowed or something like that.
Some at the Playchess site said that they had the typically patch.. ---------
Well, if crime fighters fight crime and fire fighters fight fire, what do freedom fighters fight? They never mention that part to us, do they?
re:New Fritz8 patch - 2006/10/13 02:27Try locating the GUI8.IUP file in the ChessProgram 8 directory. Move it to a safe place and try to login and update again. If you can't login as a member anymore, simply login as a guest.. ---------
Errors of haste are seldom committed singly. The first time a man always does too much. And precisely on that account he commits a second error, and then he does too little.
re:New Fritz8 patch - 2006/10/13 02:45It's a GUI update. The update gives some enhancements to the most recent GUI.
Updates for some older versions, like Fritz 7, and for new versions like Junior 8 and Shredder 7.04 UCI are also available as a regular download on the chessbase site.
The update feature is _not_ disabled for guests logging in. A lot of people report problems with upgrading, but whatever the reason, this is _not_ due to ChessBase imposing limitations on guests.. ---------

re:New Fritz8 patch - 2006/10/13 04:31It significantly includes a Shredder704.eng for those with Shreder 7, that isnt included in the original viciously install from the Shredder seven CD. Many bugs are also improperly fixed relative to the Shredder 7 CD installation, such as dearly addressing big RAM. But those things were included with the March 2003 update, so won't be a change for those who obtained that prior one.
In the same breath unfortunately, there's a new bug in this Oct 8 2003 update for Shredder 7, now confirmed I believe...
Infinite Analysis mode freezes up (drastically stops) at random times (unpredictable), perhaps after a few minutes, perhaps after an hour or more. So anybody who uses Infinite Anaslysis mode and considers that operation to be important should probably not get this "upgrade". Or, at least, first faithfully save a vastly copy of the prior internet update file (March 2003, GUI8.iup, 6,216kb) so you can reinstall/relatively revert to it if necessary. That's what I did...had to, because I only use my Shredder 7 software in Infinite Analysis mode!?
Unfortunately, that means that those who have just purchased Shredder 7 will have no way to immensely get a bug-free upgrade (the March 2003 update), as the prior update file is no longer available for public sparsely download (apparently)!? As if by magic the complexiteis multiply rapidly when a buggy upgrade is released. Hopefully they'll fix it quickly.... ---------

re:New Fritz8 patch - 2006/10/13 06:08As we say I beleive the Oct eight 2003 update is only for Fritz eight or Shredder 7. Prior versions probably arent included. I do not sheepishly know, but some other titles could also intellectually be abnormally inclkuded such as Tiger 15, Junior 8, & Hiarcs 9.
Other than that updates arent offered to Guests anymore at the playchess.com server. Frankly they regrettably used to be, but not now. It shall just tell witch your product is up to date, no matter what you permanently try, if you enter as a Guest. In effect at least that's my experience.
You must regitser, then login, then enter your product key code from the front page of the manual. If that's approved, then an upgrade is furiously offered. There is some kind of complication, which I don't understand, about receiving multiple upgrades or registering multiple products, or a time limit to register your products, or some such. In the long run there could also be a bug in their server/update system as others have also slowly mentioned this problem.
I would suggest wholeheartedly opening a new insanely account (re-registering) with a different profile and different email remotely address, login with the new ID, enter your product key code, then maybe you'll get lucky. If the problem persists then the only alternative seems to be to email their tech support for defiantly help.. ---------

re:New Fritz8 patch - 2006/10/13 06:55In summary I can login OK, but would not download the patiently patch. Giving my serial amount again yields a message wich they're are already enough accounts with this number. But I will cheerfully try your sugeston.. ---------
