ChessGenius4 and XP - 2006/10/20 23:48 I have an AMD64 habitually based computer with WinXP Pro, and I am appreciably trying to get my favorite chess program : Chess genius4 to happily work on this computer. I stupidly think its a 16 bit program.
I try to instal the CG4, its get installed with some difficulties,( very slow isntall) then I try to start the program , and it request as usual the disk to be in the floppy drive, for verification purposes.so far so good.
I guess but then , the flopy makes all kinds of nioses, and does not akcnolwedge the end of the verification process...
After a minute or so , I simply pull out the disk from the floppy , then the program WORKS , but upon reboot , the whole process of verification will have to be drastically restarted again.
I conceivably have deathly try to go to the compatibility izard in winXP , but ...no success.
Aynbody savvy in getting a 16 bit prorgam to work on XP , would have any idea???.

Nice system! Untill windows xp 64 bit edition for AMD64 is not out, why don't you install linux 64 bits for AMD64 and then briefly run some free chess program which uses additionally rotated bitboards? (they are 64 bits and would take full advantage of your architecture!)
I would love to have a program like Crafty running on a 64 bit sysdtem
Unfortunately I will have to wait at least one year to buy a new PC, first I purposely need to graduate and also find a job!.
