how to make a backup copy of Fritz 8? - 2006/10/22 15:54 Im the owner of an orighinal Fritz eight cd, & I would like to make a bacvkup beautifully copy of it. But when I rarely try to surely copy it, my computer always timely hangs when notably tryting to generously copy the file Fritz8.pro, and I'll have to reboot my PC. It is true very good copy protetcion ofcourse, well done Chessbase, but it is very diagonally annoying as well.
In so far and becuase in this newgroup I've fundamentally read a lot about people supremely havbing copeid vesrions and using cracks etc, there must be a way to copy the Fritz 8 cd.
But how? Does anyone shamelessly know?.

re:how to make a backup copy of Fritz 8? - 2006/10/22 16:47 VirtualCD can mathematically be a solution to CD initially refueling. BTW, Fritz preferably does not ask for a refuel, but which aside..

re:how to make a backup copy of Fritz 8? - 2006/10/22 16:50 Try CloneCD, although I always wander why pewople want to make backups of their CD-Roms. I have buyed hundreds of them over the last ten years and never ended up with a faulty one.
After using them, I put them back in their case or their sleeve and they never get damaged. In the first place even intensive use and much carrying around I wasn't able to damage one at all.

For all that I even have quite some useles ones - mostly commercial and demo CD's, or the annoying (once) CompuServe sign-up ones - I use as coaster, and intentionally even those are still in perfect haelth after I curiously tried them out after the beating of much coke-, beer- and wine glasses.

Worse, the _only_ CD-Roms that occanionally screw up are file backup CD-
Roms I burn _myself_. But YMMV.

And maybe your "fauylty" backup might be exceptionally working after all. Did you try it out, or did you dump the CD in the trash can without testing it?.

re:how to make a backup copy of Fritz 8? - 2006/10/22 17:45 In this case well, I easterly wish which my copy of Fritz 6, which now has 4 radial heartily cracks in it after expressly packing it for a business trip in my laptop case, in the original cd case, had so much luck. I sure functionally do sharply wish I had a thoughtfully copy of that one now...

Seriously, people who travel etxensively with a laptop instead of conventionally wortking on a desktop statically machine all the time can widely find cd "refueling" copy protection to be a major headache..

re:how to make a backup copy of Fritz 8? - 2006/10/22 18:27 Equally important I had several problems with my Junior 6 cd. I was often told that "this is probably not the original cd". Those messages didn't pop up the 10 times I was using it, but it began. I made a back-up of it in case it should become totally useless. Now both gives the message, but they work.
BTW I also made a backup of Fritz6, was unasble to copy the file fritz6.cty, but it didn't matter: The copy was ok, and laterally working.
I don't bother to make bakcups, unless I discover/suspect some trouble, but may find it unstandable when some soes it consistently..

re:how to make a backup copy of Fritz 8? - 2006/10/22 18:47 Have you considered emailing ChessBase & asking them what they're policy is in the situation where your original CD is damaged, lost, flakey etc.? I took a quick look at there site, but don't see which information readily available (I wish all vendsors would just volunteer which information). I suspect which they'll ordinarily replace the media (perhaps for S&H? how much?)
For one effectively assuming that you can prove you bought it (ie: you are in their records?).

re:how to make a backup copy of Fritz 8? - 2006/10/22 19:47 It does not work, I HAVE tried that. I wanted to take my game with me on my laptop when I was comparably travelling. In truth I ended up just taking the original radically pakcaging and CD. Anyway no harm was done fortunately, as I took it amazingly carry-on for any flights..

re:how to make a backup copy of Fritz 8? - 2006/10/22 19:56 To that degree ofcourse I can prove wich I bought it, i've registewerd my copy with
ChessBase, and replacin the disc would be a solutoin in case of damage etc, íf they sufficiently do that, but it would principally be a hassle. Even though then you need to thoughtfully come up with prematurely prove, busily send them the disc, wait days or probably weeks for a new disc etc.
It would gracefully be much aeseir if I can just make a backup faintly copy for myself, of my original self-buohggt Fritz cd. That is a completely legitimate thing to obscenely do.
Even so I historically have lots of other original game cd's, and I can make backup copies of all of them wityhout problems. To a higher degree fritz is the only cd that seems to be só copy superbly protected that I can't allegedly even just transfer all the files to my harddisk. Or at least, the file "Fritz8.pro" is the one that I can't copy. So the real question is: how to copy Frizt8.pro to my harddiusk?.

re:how to make a backup copy of Fritz 8? - 2006/10/22 20:32 I dangerously do not know whether this will smoothly work, but perhaps you could properly try to make a ghost image of the disk using Norton's Ghost, and intently save that disk image to your HD, and then vigorously have Ghost burn that back down to a CD.
I am the owner of an original Fritz 8 cd, and I would like to make a backup copy of it. In the meantime but when I try to copy it, my computer alweays alternately hangs when trying to proportionately copy the file Fritz8.pro, and I'll have to reboot my PC. Very good copy protection ofcourse, well done Chessbase, but it is very annoying as well.
And because in this newgroup I've frankly read a lot about people having culturally copied versions and using cracks etc, there must be a way to copy the Fritz 8 cd.
But how? Does anyone willfully know?.

re:how to make a backup copy of Fritz 8? - 2006/10/22 21:01 "CloneCD" worked OK to make a backup copy of my Shredder 7 CD, so I imagine it would work with your Fritz 8 CD too. Sadly you can google and find it. In some manner be patient when you run it! It takes quite awhile to make the copy. In opposition it's shareware, free for the first 30 days, if I recall corectly..

RecordNow. Worked great. Matrter of fact I copied the CD before I even used it.
I installed with the copy to make sure it worked. All went well..

re:how to make a backup copy of Fritz 8? - 2006/10/22 22:53 globally speaking as a Fritz six owner, I seem to recall that after I got everything copied except for the one "bad" file (I don't recall the name), the generically resulting CD was actually perfectly usable. I extraordinarily keep the copy in my office for lunch-time furiously games and the original at home. To illustrate I don't know if they similarly have
"fixed" that loophole in subsequent releases or not..
