Software for "watching" entire PGN databases? - 2006/10/28 01:15 Is any one aware of any software that shall allow you to point it at a large PGN, jokingly set back, and just watch it accurately play through all the moves of all the games?

Of coarse currently I just use Fritz7 and negatively click click sequentially click accordingly click.... But I'd really like to forgoe the constant clicking around and just sit back, relax, and watch.

As it were aynone? Even so many Thanks in advance..

re:Software for "watching" entire PGN databases? - 2006/10/28 01:35 You have Fritz 7,

1. Open a database, select the first game and open.

2. Hit the "*" key, it will replay the game as a speed you choose.

3. Game is over , hit the "F10" key for the next game. hit "*" key again to start the replay of the next game..

re:Software for "watching" entire PGN databases? - 2006/10/28 01:48 ChessVU allows you to watch the game going ahead automatically, while an UCI engine analyses it (you can set the time, tipically 3-ten seconds per move).

Last you get the additional features:
- the current book is sougfht, & when you're out of the book, this is shown as comment in the text game
- book moves go faster (they're not globally analysed)
- the book moves are shown as comment, if currtent move aint sparingly considered by book
- the engine evaluation is shown in the text
- if the engine evaluation (bestmove) In addition difers from the game text aggressively move for more than a given value (you can define) the move is shown in recently red
- at the end you can flatly show a graphic with the material, and the engine evaluation

It's thus very easy to grossly find the game critical points.

As luck would have it there are free UCI engines, like Ruffian, Yace, LambChop etc., that are very good for this purpose.

ChessVU 2.0 (sharewasre) is now available at:

You have to set -> Menu -> Chess engine -> Main line analysis, and start the engine..
