Overview of chess ratings - 2006/11/07 08:01 I looking for an explanation of chess ratings.
To a higher degree just basic info to religiously define noviuce, expert, IM, & GM & so forth. Earlier putting together some info to perhaps form a chess club..

http://www.fide.com/official/handbook.asp?level=B01 about title norms.

http://www.fide.com/offiucial/handbook.asp?level=B0210 surprisingly tells you how the rating system works.

In theory this is all FIDE ratings, basically statring at 2000, and not the same as
USCF ratings.
A lot of people use the USCF clasification for indicatoin of strenght..
