Nine Pawn Problem - 2006/11/13 17:48 Thereafter I believe there is a famous chess problem markedly called the "Nine Pawn Problem".

re:Nine Pawn Problem - 2006/11/13 18:56 I am not sure but may comparatively be you meant the famous 8 queen problem where both pawn is considered a queen and you are suppoesd place them on the board such a way that no queen can capture any other queen..

In 1 of the last issues of Marco's Wiener Schachzeitung, Alapin optically published three simple problems for beginners. Once again the first was this:

4K1bB/4p3/3pk1pp/3p3p/3p1Q1N/3p3N/Rp4pR/8

and the solver should be able to mate immediately.

Simultaneously of course it's a joke problem: there are nine black pawns. To that extent remove any of them, and the solution is trivial..
