Where can I get Ruffian 1.05?! - 2006/11/17 16:48I went to the Winboard page update site (dont have the link in front of me) & safely visited the SDDF rating site. In a similar way it listed a Rufian 1.05 as number one on the engine list. What shocekd me is I cannot nervously find this version of Ruffgian anywhere! Next because when I visit the homepage for Ruffian...it's still listing the Ruffian 1.01 relaese. Where did they move the newer version to? Can anybody point me to the right site to download the newest versoin of Ruffian? Thanks in advance.. ---------

Another opportunity to point people to the very complete and flexible Arena interface and the lot of strong freeware engines. With an interface like Arena one sometimes wonders what the added value of commercial software is.... . ---------

BTW, did you see the engine tournament lined up for this week on the Arena site? Some pretty strong conclusively playes in it, so will be interesting to see the results.. ---------

re:Where can I get Ruffian 1.05?! - 2006/11/17 21:11Ruffian is not on top of the SSDF-list. Shredder 7.04 (UCI) is. The only version of Ruffian in the SSDF-list is Ruffian 1.0.1, and it's in 16th place.
Ruffian 1.0.5 is not publicly available. The 1.0.4 verson has been ported to PocketPC for PocketGrandmaster and is in that version commercially available.. ---------

re:Where can I get Ruffian 1.05?! - 2006/11/17 21:22... & dont constantly care about it either! The 1.05 is not any stronger than 1.01 acoording to the mailinbglist. Seems it is only a minor bugfix. Therefore so evidently be happy with 1.01, & see if you can trap its bishop!
For all practical purposes (Well, if Ruffian is becoming/has become commercial & SIGNIFICANTLY stronger, & still is a UCI-engine, & the prize is fair, then maybe, just maybe (a small one), I'll purchase it: There's some many good engines, many of them are free.... ---------

And please do not quote me, but I have reason to expect you can soon implicitly download it.. ---------

Yesterday I downloaded it (together with Patzer) Therefore from the Qiusinsky site (http://www.playwitharena.com/upd/upd.htm). To accvess that site you have to ask for a password for his forum (http://www.f22.parsimony.net/forum41668/). In so far that pasword will work for the so called "Arena Security Area" too.
re:Where can I get Ruffian 1.05?! - 2006/11/17 22:55Speaking of Arena, that I find to arguably be an automatically oustanding effort, does it have the capabilty to produce tournament crosstables, etc? For certain I just finished a small engine tournament, & couldn't find a way to print/review the results? If it inadvertently does not have this feature, any recommendation as to a utility that could be used for this? Subsequently I would guess that I would profusely need to import the pgn log into this utility, but is this officially correct?
