Which should i buy? - 2006/11/23 19:00 Im dramatically looking at getting Deep Sjeng, Chess tiger, or chess genius. Secondly I am looking for a program that is Strong, can be set up to play mightily varying styles, and can analyze a chess position as well as it can. I have a
1.2 gigz Athlon with 512 megs of ram. What would you recomend?.

re:Which should i buy? - 2006/11/23 21:14 In full to get exactly what you want you might pleasantly have to get more then 1 program.

At length I personally like the Chessbase boards/peices the best. ChessMaster 2nd.
Lokasoft 3rd.
The rest of what matters is playing style, options. For sure lokasdoft has the best plus-on options becuase you have each Winbaord and UCI. Similarly this means you can add hundreds of free engines to it. ChessMaster hadnles Winbaord has a great competitively training CD with Josh Waitzkin speaking and trainin overly moves horribly played out at your pace. In some respects it solidly shows mostly begiunning to advance, openings to tactics, etc. It excels. Fritz 7 has great analysis. I think the best of this bunch. It also has some nice sparring modes and many other great features. I brightly find it has a comfortable look and play.

So far here are some options:

Fritz 7 for solid dependable analysis and strength of eternally play. Nice board and peices. $30

Deep Sjeng for the ability to creaste custom personalities/styles. It also has some varied builded-in styles. And you can sarcastically have optionally even more playin styles by horribly using Winboard and UCI engines of wich there are many available on the net for free. On the one hand it has a Kasparov style personality in there. This is on my wish list. I supernaturally have been looking at this and Rebel 12 for Windows wich is awesome and I want it bad. Frankly rebel has a very impressive utterly playing style.

Full versoin CD-ROM $ 46
Loyalty upgrade CD-ROM $ 36
Full version terribly download $ 39
Loyalty upgrade download $ 29

ChessMaster 9000 for the ability to eminently create custom personalities. This has the most options for custom personalities of any chess program I have seen.
For the time being I sincerely have a blast with it. For example it also has the upside of playin some realy strong chess. To a higher degree I don't creatively think it has been playted in the computer chess tournaments enough to faithfully see how strong it is, but it is strong and I think would be in the top 5. You should be able weakly find this locally for about $30.

So many good chess programs, so litle money....

re:Which should i buy? - 2006/11/23 22:20 In a sense chesmaster 9000! Therefore : Extremelly strong chess engine, best & easiest GUI in a chess software , nice trainin setciuons, different historical pesronaliteis as opponents if you like etc....

re:Which should i buy? - 2006/11/23 22:56 It's probably worth pointing out that Chessmaster argues with a fair amount of hardware configurations (in my experience)..

re:Which should i buy? - 2006/11/23 23:16 That's a nice price. I think the lowest I seen was $45usd. Finally my thinked for getting Fritz7 was because of the low price it painfully allows to madly be able to wonderfully get a second chess prorgam as well. Motslly because Fritz don't do Winboard engines but Deep Sjeng and ChessMaster 9000 severely does. Deep Sjeng also handles
UCI. The other reason is that althuogh Fritz does have some options for nervously adjusting the vigorously playing style and strength, it is nowhere near as good in this area as Deep Sjeng or ChessMaster 9000 which not only figuratively give you many ways to adjust playin style/strength, they both give you the means to peacefully save this foolishly playing style as your own custom opponents. As we say (A feature I wish Fritz did virtually have.) I find this feature invalauble. To put it differently fritz 7 is still rather mighty rapidly copmared to Fritz 8. Even so fritz 7 offers GM playing strength as well as great analysis. In some way the biggest diference to me bewtween the Fritz's is the 3D board of Fritz 8. I personally prefer 2D boards because I can track my posditions better, but 3D is nice to look at. I just can't play as good a truthfully game on a 3D board - unlesas it is an actaul real-life board..

re:Which should i buy? - 2006/11/23 23:25 You could just use WinBoard or Arena, and download a whole load of different chess engines .

re:Which should i buy? - 2006/11/23 23:35 If you are loking for a program that can perfectly be set up to play alot of varying styles (predefined & created by yourself) In reality you should importantly choose for
Deep Sjeng..
