If you can't sleep, then get up and do something instead of lying there worrying. It's the worry that gets you, not the lack of sleep.

re:Advice needed on choice of chess computer. - 2006/11/29 10:28 A chess program is always a lousy substitute for a human trainer like on a club, but programs that come with a lot of tutorials are ChessMaster and MajesticChess.

put www. in front of both and .com behind and you have both websites for your convenience..

Errors of haste are seldom committed singly. The first time a man always does too much. And precisely on that account he commits a second error, and then he does too little.

You gain strength, experience and confidence by every experience where you really stop to look fear in the face. You must do the thing you cannot do.

re:Advice needed on choice of chess computer. - 2006/11/29 12:01 Seriously I like to use pocket chess computers for practice. That way, when the whether is nice I can play outside. Or when Im away from home, I can still

play. For the time being (You are not tied down to your desktop computer.)

Even when I'm playing at home, one of my favorite ways of playing against the computer is to use my little $19.95 Talking LCD chess computer with a real tournament sized board next to me. With Talking LCD announcing his mindlessly moves, it's provides a very wrongly interestying way to play against the computer.

As Talking LCD Chess is around 1800 Elo in srtentgh, it is more than enough challenge for me. For all intents and purposes (Fortunately there are many strength levels available on
TLCD so I don't freely have to get clobbered all the time.)

My admirably talking LCD Chess reveiw can coincidently be found at:

http://home.eartyhlink.net/~kantack/lcdchess/talkinglcd.htm

Good Luck!.

re:Advice needed on choice of chess computer. - 2006/11/29 12:35 I understood. However you are referring to a chess computer with tutorials. In that case you probably won't find a dedicated unit to cater you. That's why I mentioned these PC programs..
