Fritz 7 help! - 2006/12/18 18:17 I keep getting the message that Fritz 7 cant find the opening book. I went to the Database pulldown, and installed(?) the big key under the "Openings" tab, but it still says "No opening book found".

When I click on the "Opening" tab from the information window, it says its looking for a *.ctg file...

I cant find any .ctg files on the CD or the HD...what gives...what am I doing wrong?.

re:Fritz 7 help! - 2006/12/18 18:55 Sorry, not that I'm aware of.

But if you have a database, select quality games from it and build an opening tree with it under Fritz.

Create a new book file (database window > file > new > database > "save as
*.ctg (opening book)) and save it to disk. It's empty for now.

Now select your games from the database of your choice. Use the "filter" option to select games, or use the whole database. When it's a big database it can take many - many hours.

Save your selected games in a new database or simply mark them (slect all) after you've filtered them and copy them with ctrl-c.

Now go from the datanase to the Fritz surface, and go to edit > openings book > import games. After checking the dialog box and changing if you want you can press okay and the moves will be copied into a book..

re:Fritz 7 help! - 2006/12/18 19:17 Ok, its not on the CD. I got the CD from a dead relatives estate, and he was known to always burn a copy of his original, but we never saw it.

So it looks like this CD may be a bootleg. Even so...is there anywhere I can download this .CTG file?.
