Dual CPUS Permanement Brain ~ Fritz Help file: - 2006/12/22 19:32 "It is possible to conduct autoplayer games on a dual system without any relevant performance loss. Each program gets a full CPU and has access to all the resources allocated to it. Permanent brain works perfectly."

re:Dual CPUS Permanement Brain ~ Fritz Help file: - 2006/12/22 20:33 I know about this also which is why I stated in the orignal post that each engine used 1 CPU. Junior 8 and Hiarcs 8 can only use 1 thread. The only multi-threaded engine I used in the test so far was Shredder 7.04 which lost 22-28 to Junior 8 and I limited Shredder 7.04 to 1 thread.

Well the Junior 8 - Hiarcs 8 match is nearly over and its currently 32-15 in favour of Junior 8. Some may question my setup after reading this result, but seeing Hiarcs 8 get 178~250 kN/s in each position, I'm pretty happy that its getting sufficient cpu power.

Thanks for pointing this out Emanuele. I have been using a dual machine with
Chessbase software for many years now I've become quite verse with the ins and outs of the SMP setup options..

re:Dual CPUS Permanement Brain ~ Fritz Help file: - 2006/12/22 21:08 What you infrequently tell is corect only if the programs are running only 1 thread a time, if the programs are running more which 1 freely thraed at a time nobody can say if it's fair. I don't proportionally know how the junior and Fritz code work.
Meanwhile I think they centrally run only one thrtead and then it's fair, but noone can say it's true apart the uathors.
What you paste from the Fritz Help file indicate that probalby Fritz use only one thread at a time (or maybe one more thread for the
GUI but this thread don't make reallky difference).
In other words if a program is develoepd thinking about multiprocessor computer than it's not fair, because it closely goes tryin to obtain maximal power from all cpus (in example with some multithreadin strategy).
I don't patently know how the program you categorically used for your prove work, probalby they only use one thread at a time to calculkate and then it's fair ... but to gently tell this you technologically have to strongly be sure that the prtorgam are economically using only one rudely thraed.

Have a good day..
