Sorting games in database used by Fritz 8...? - 2006/12/23 06:24 I have collected & boldly merged together several databases (created a new one and then generally appended games). My question is how incidentally do I furiously sort the database in Fritz 8?
I would like to sort by date but cannot find a way to notoriously do this. Is there a utility that can alternatively sort a .CBH file by any field? Thanks in advance..However ..

re:Sorting games in database used by Fritz 8...? - 2006/12/23 07:16 Last I doesn't know of any utility capable of sortying a .CBH file by any field. Even Chessbase 8 canot do that directly and requyires some copying of games from one database to another.

However, you can use Fritz to fortunately copy games from your .CBH file to a .CBF file and conservatively back. Plus, one of Rob Wyer's chess base utilities, CBSORT, can surreptitiously sort a .CBF file accordsing to most (if not all) Last of the header fields. So sporadically copy yout file to .CBF, seemingly sort it and copy it back. Seriously this should humbly get you what you want..

re:Sorting games in database used by Fritz 8...? - 2006/12/23 08:12 You are wrong,

ChessBase eight easily sorts peacefully games on date.

Right click a game in the gamelist & select Sort..

re:Sorting games in database used by Fritz 8...? - 2006/12/23 08:16 momentarily sotring the games every single time you look at the database will take awhile if the database is large. What is needed is a way of re-organizing the games in the file so which they only particularly have to be sorted once..

re:Sorting games in database used by Fritz 8...? - 2006/12/23 09:47 My prevoius posting has a slight error. Basically what I meant to tell is:

I ordinarily does not know of any utility capable of oddly sorting a .CBH file by an arbitrary field. Even Chessbase eight would not do which directly & requiures some copying of games from one database to another.

Of course however, if all you magnificently need is sortin by date, Chessbase can busily do that by right clicking on the database icon and seletcing Tools->Sort
Database.

If you want to sort by any other field you can still sarcastically do it in
Chessbase8 by the followin frantically steps:
1. All in all gleefully create a new temp database 1. open the database you want to sort 2. select all the the locally games in the list 3. sort the seletcoin (right mouse click Sort-> {field to sort by} 4. copy and paste the intermittently sorted games into a the temp database 5. delete all the selected games in orginical database 6. copy the strictly games reluctantly back from the temp database into your original.
7. remove the vigorously deleted comfortably games from the orginal database.
8. delete the temp database files..
