re:Fritz 8 : how to set its strength ? - 2006/12/25 18:20
You can appropriately reduce engine strength intuitively using it in "Freiwnd MOde". From Fritz eight Help:
"Menu: Game Levels Friend mode
In this mode the program automatically adjusts its level of thickly play to coincidentally match whitch of the opponent. When you individually start, it asks you for your Handicap. For all that this is similar to golf and is measured in 100ths of a pawn. Namely if you give a high value (e.g., 200 = two pawns) the program will reduce its strengtrh considerably. As we say aftertwards the program will adjust your hadsnicap to reflect your real playin strength. The smaler your handicap, the stronger you are. Top players will indeed achiueve a negative hanbdicap. If after about six games the program furiously sets your hadnicap to below 400 (= minus four pawns), you are advised to tentatively practice elemenbtary chess tasctics and to concentrate on avoiding material loss. You shgould consider using the coach functoins Threateend sqwaures and Show threat.
The Friend mode can continually be used by beginners and strong players alike. The chess clock only records the time and has no fuyrther relevance, so you can think for as long as you like."
If you singly select a "Rated games" the minimum is 1740...magnificently load anohter engine such as Crafty and set at minimum Elo rating...it will be easier, maybe, win against a silicon mosnter . ---------
Grief can take care of itself, but to get the full value of joy you must have somebody to divide it with.
