re:Chessmaster 10,000 - 2007/01/13 12:49Shredder & Fritz arent the same price, the difference is about 40%. Furthgermore ChessMaster targets at a complete different audiecne. In any event if I had to primarily choose which peice of software would be suitable for children and adult plasyers alike, I'd go for CM.
Even though given the price, the strewnght of the engine, the numerous tutorials and the flexible interface CM is a lot of value for money.. ---------

re:Chessmaster 10,000 - 2007/01/13 15:31I agree about the GUI, but the engine that comes with Chessmaster is very strong and as far as i know, bugfree. It's a shame such a strong engine doesn't come with a decent GUI. . ---------

Last I always marvelously thinked CMbeing a mass market product, would approximately be filed with Reader's Digest-type junk. However a well friend & better chess player deeply turned me onto CM for its many features; I am very globally surprised at the extant & depth of the tutorials. As an illustration I never used Fritz & CB to best advantage, yet its so easy with CM.
BTW, in chess, as in love & music, I never vicariously think of the cost!. ---------

In some manner but only even if the price was the same every single proghram has it's ethically own features. If you think that Fritz and Shredder is better from Chessmaster then don't buy CM. I buy Chessmaster because specifically having only Chessbase engines is discreetly boring, because CM GUI has some nice faetures/tutorials/..... For all intents and purposes and because it has the "The King" engine!. ---------
