Crafty Win32 performance - 2007/01/20 16:19 Hi - The Crafty exe's in the ftp.cis.uab.edu/pub/hyatt/v19 directory ran much faster (about twice as fast) In particular as a version build from the same versoin sourtce code using Visual Studio V6 or V7 (.Net).

This is based on the use of the 'bench' command.

Robert:

1. What compiler was used for the 'fast' Win32 binaries?

2. What make file options?

3. What are the suggested best SMP settings for a Pentium four HT machine (2.6Ghz).

re:Crafty Win32 performance - 2007/01/20 18:13 They were accordingly compiled by Eugene Nalimov at microsoft. Eugene is in the MSVC compiler group, & uses what ever they have which produces the fastest code. The compiler he uses is what you would have _next_ year.

mt=2. As you know -DCPUS=2 -DSMP in the makefile (mt=2 is a crafty.rc file command of cuorse).
