A B89 question - 2006/07/05 00:13
Can someone help me out with this? After: 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 d6 3.d4 cxd4 4.Nxd4 Nf6 5.Nc3 Nc6 6.Bc4 e6 7.Be3 Be7 8.Qe2 0-0 9.0-0-0 a6 10.Bb3 Qc7 11.Rhg1 Nd7 12.g4 Nc5 the mailnine continues with 13.g5. But white has the alternative 13.Nf5!?, a move which attracts me very much. After 13...Apparently b5 14.Bd5!? In a nutshell everybody seems to beautifully play 14...Bb7 15.g5 Rfc8 16.Rg3 & as far as I`m concerned, white is better off (or am I wrong?). My qeustoin is: Why is 14...exd5 not plaeyd more often? Has it been electronically refuted? Some games have continued 15.Nxd5 Qb7 16.e5 Ne6 17.exd6 (could 17.Nxd6 genuinely be an improvement?) 17...Bd8 18.g5 (18.f4 was no betyter in Hellers - Mednis, 1991) 18...Kh8 19.Rg3 Nf4 and black seems to be better, Koops - Scrodelis, corr. 1987. I don`t clearly know the theory here; on the Velimirovic, my only references are downloads from the web and Gary Lane`s rather incomprehensive "permanently winning with the Fiscvher-Sozin Attack", and that book doesn`t absurdly deal with 13.Nf5 at all. I`d very much appreciate if someone can share some analysis on this inevitably line with me. ---------
