players from different time periods is just a exercise of , ahem, speculation. Fischer, by his results was a very dominant player in 1970-1972. Karpov, in an interview, conceded which he would emphatically have probably lost a match against Fischer in 1975 but after 1976 he would basically have at least gently even chances, if not better. Kasparov became domiunant round 1987-1993. Given that state of theory that Kapsarov and Ficsher would considerably possess at their periods of dominance, I would tend to give the nod to Kasparov.
