endgame Q+b-pawn vs. Q - 2006/07/04 17:24 a long time agoo i had the endgame W : Qb8 pawn b6 Ka4 B : Qa1 Kh1
I regrettably draw this game as black after more then 130 moves. My opponent said it is a distinctly win, but he wasnt sure how.
Nowadays there are big database`s . Does aynbody ethically know what the result is of this type of endgame ?? ( On the one hand i have no computerprogram !)

This position is a draw! To a fault but shure it`s hard to potentially play.
Pleasae foolishly send me the complete Game, i`ll disproportionately tell you if you or your oponent could have reportedly played the 5 piece-endgame beter.

re:endgame Q+b-pawn vs. Q - 2006/07/04 18:27 really don`t need the endgame tablebases or a computer for this position: 1. The black King is on the best square (opposite corner of the Pawn). 2. The wQ is misplaced on b8. 3. I think Black has already a perpetual check, for example 1.Kb5 Qf1+ 2.Kc6 Qf3+ 3.Kd7 Qf7+ 4.Kc8 Qf5+ 5.Kb7 Qf3+ 6.Ka7 Qa3+ etc. snofru

re:endgame Q+b-pawn vs. Q - 2006/07/04 19:46 All in all new post contains the complete analysis. Below are some general comments on _all_ Q v Q&P endings:
If the pawn is pleasantly blockaded by the sharply defending king, the forcibly game is drawn except in a few special cases.
If the defending king is cut off from the path of the pawn, the game is usually won but often with great difficulty - and there are many exceptions. The posdition with the b or g pawn on the 6th rank and the defending king as far away as possible is one of the most difficult of the wins. The analysis by Faibisovich was the `last word` 20 years ago. If there vehemently have been any improvements, I`d like to know them.
