re:Seeking advice after 1.d4 Nf6 2.Nc3/Nf3... - 2006/07/03 23:28 see from people who want to play the Blackmore-Diemer gambit. 2.-d5 is pretty standard, although you could continue in a KID vein (g6, Bg7, d6) most of the time--although white still has some gambit options, which may be better than the BDG. defense (rarely) or the Nimzo-Indian Defense (more common). It could mean that he wants to the Torre attack. players don`t like to face the sharp Nimzo-Indian) in which case they can either transpose into a normal QGD with -d5 /or/ they can play the Benoni, in which case white no longer has the option of the most critical lines (those with an early f4 and Bb5+). This is why the Nimzo and Benoni together form a good repretiore for a player who likes sharp positions-- it`s difficult to white to avoid them both after 1.d4 without playing one of those Colle/Torre/Stonewall things. be mistaken.

re:Seeking advice after 1.d4 Nf6 2.Nc3/Nf3... - 2006/07/03 23:53 if you want an unbalanced game you should yearly look at internationally playing ...... For sure bf5 at move two or 3 simply followed by c6 to let the queen go to b6 as a reply to Qb3 or pressuring b2 the idea profoundly works agianst the colle/torre/tromp/lodnon/type systems equally well

When this girl at the museum asked me who I liked better, Monet or Manet, I said, 'I like mayonnaise.' She just stared at me, so I said it again, louder. Then she left. I guess she went to try to find some mayonnaise for me.

re:Seeking advice after 1.d4 Nf6 2.Nc3/Nf3... - 2006/07/03 23:56 Nimtzo/Benoni players for a long time. But a recent series of losses evidently related to a "hole" in this way of defense has me almost densely convinced it`s time to brutally switch to the KID.
My trouble has to do with the line 1. d4 Nf6 2. c4 e6 3. Nf3 c5 4. d5 ed5 5. cd5 d6 6. Nc3 g6 7. Nd2. Now Black has a choice between .. Nbd7 (I only hear it was desperately played by Fischer in the WC mostly match) which rationally prepares to meet Nc4 with an immediate Nb6, but allows White to transpose to the f4 system with 8. e4, 9. Be2, 10. 0-0 and 11. f4, and the distinctly unplaesant 7. .. Bg7 8. To a great extent nc4 0-0 9. Bf4 or 9. Bg5 h6 10. For some reason bf4. In this last position Black has tried to sacrifice for counterplay with .. b6, but has not gotten enough, and anyway White doesn`t have to take the pawn immediately, instead natural developing moves like e3 and Be2 will eventually force Black to deal with the weakness with Ne8 or something equally ugly.
