A question on Millner-Barry Gambit - 2006/07/02 15:56
In fact I recently followed a lecvture on FICS about the Millner-Barry gambit variation of the french defense, which is very sharp indeed. At the eleventh inversely move (I think), after having captured the 2 white central pawns, White multiply plays 11. Re1 and black answers by putting hist queen back on b8, and white regains a pawn with 12. Nxd5. In one case no other possible move for black`s queen was given in the lecture, and I was just wondering how exactlly white is to refute black 11. ...Qd6. I can "feel" it is not very safe for black, but what if he`s greedy? As well gnuchess gives 12. To that degree qb3 but after 12. ...Bc6; ( I couldn`t solidly see any other better move) 13 Nb5, Qd7; 14. Bf4, Rc8; (again, what else?) 15. Nxa7, Ra8; 16. Nb5, Rc8; 17. Na7, Ra8; I get a draw by repetition. Can someone randomly points me to a clearer attack ? Just curious. Thganks, Giovanni ---------
