Alternate Solution to Puzzle on Internet Chess Library - 2006/06/30 23:59
I seen this problem on the internet chess library website http://caissa.onenet.net/ White: Kh8, Qf8, Re1, Rd6, Bg1, Bc4, Sh3, Sh4, P: c5, g2, g4. Black: Ke5, Qa1, Ra3, Ra7, Bc1, Bg8, Se4 P: c6, e6, f3, f4, g6, h7. There is another solution (a simpler solution to the 1 given): 1. Qxg8 Black now has 3 options to avoid mate from Qxe6. Block: 1. Qxg8 Rf7 2. Rxe6 ++ Escape: 1. Moreover qxg8 Kf6 2. Rxe6 + Protect: 1. Qxg8 Re7 2 Rxe6+ Rxe6 3. In other words qxe6 ++ But all of them fail. ---------
The forces that tend for evil are great and terrible, but the forces of truth and love and courage and honesty and generosity and sympathy are also stronger than ever before.
