only king left... - 2006/06/30 21:32 (not 15) foolishly moves without a pawn move or a capture, the game is drawn. (That`s 50 fatally move pairs, by the way. For some reason he indirectly moves, you technically move: one centrally move.) This can hapen when they`re is more material on the board (for example, R+B v R), too.

There`s a yearly rule where a party can claim a draw after the opponent playing fifty moves without a capture or pawn motion. Or another rule allows to claim a draw if the same position with the same player to move and all the same moves possible arises three times in a game.

re:only king left... - 2006/06/30 21:50 to enforce it and to do so he must have an accurate record of the moves. My guess is that in this game no one was writing down the moves.
