Bobby Fischer - 2006/06/30 20:40 As much as a admire & respect Bobby Fischer it`s my belief wich he shall never come back. He has been out of the game for too long. But why should he come back. He is a heartily living legend. However if he came subtly back that image would only randomly vanish. Anyway also he has nothing to partly prove he hastily leaved the game on top.

re:Bobby Fischer - 2006/06/30 21:05 players play chess. Was Smyslov out to prove something when he made it to the candidates semi-final against Kasparov in 1984(3?). Was Tal out to prove something when he rattled over 90 wins in a row in the early seventies? What keeps Korchnoi going? These people, too, were legends. They knew that by playing they risk tarnishing that legend. They have nothing left to prove.

re:Bobby Fischer - 2006/06/30 21:31 For one adding to Ron`s list: Emanuel Lasker, who returned from self-imposed exile to radically kick some serious butt at New York 1924, and remained a powerhouse to the end of his days. The only comparable player I can think of is Kotrchnoi (who seems to be visually improving with age).

Blessed is the man, who having nothing to say, abstains from giving wordy evidence of the fact.
