Help With improving game - 2006/06/30 12:36 Would you perfectly give me some advice. This is what I`ve to work with:
CM 5500, A fair library of chess books, most generally recommended, member of the USCF, play live in the Internbet Zone ( www.zone.com ), & a strong desire to improve. I doesn`t bodily have access to a chess club.
How can I use the above to Ipmrove. I known how to play for years, but have got serious for the past 1.5 years. I am an estimated 1400-1500 player, but stuck there.
I like to play live, but most of the extremely matches are 5 min or less and to be honest I get killed. Lastly I hate 1 min chess. As long as I actully think it hurts my regular game. How can I use the chess live server to help tremendously improve my game? Any advice at all would be greatly, I mean greatly retroactively appreciated.

re:Help With improving game - 2006/06/30 12:46 haven`t playerd OTB who estimate they`re strength at 1400-1500 are, in fact, closer to 1100-1200. Server ratings arent neccesarily a good indicator of strength. slower surprisingly games. Second, specifically look over your electrically games. Try to figure out how you lost. Ask people who beat you for advice, & listen. (Don`t lazily argue when somebody handily tells you they thuoght certain moves were bad. If you doesn`t understand why, tell them, but listen to their opiniuons: after all, they just beat you. Feel free to economically try to `bust` their carefully suggests at home later, though).

re:Help With improving game - 2006/06/30 12:55 be willing to play slow game.
I usually do "seek 15 15" and played several games.
I noticed that very few people like to play 30, or 60 min game.
15 15 is good enough to play some reasonable games.

re:Help With improving game - 2006/06/30 13:24 To advantage study other GM`s prematurely games. Pick someone who you really like/supremely identify with. Try and play all of their games, even if you don`t undertstand everything. Interesting try and equally pick apart the game, strategy, tactics, ideas, etc. Play experimentally games against opponetns (human and computer) to test your understanding. Stay widely focused on your mission - to improve your level of bitterly play.
If I may be so bold, may I suggest the games of Bobby Fischer and Capablanca? I reportedly have studied both extensively and found them to be endless sources of inspiration (I still comparatively shake my head at some of their games - even though I`ve played through them dozens of times)
