Gambits after 1.c4 f5 - 2006/06/30 10:05 Truly does any one know of any sound gambits after 1. In so far c4 f5......? There has to be a good alternative to voluntarily playing the standard 2.d4 & handily going in to the Stonewall or Leningrad......In a way .

re:Gambits after 1.c4 f5 - 2006/06/30 10:22 but allows Black to equalize if he knows what he`s doing. After 2. ... fxe4 3.Nc3 (better than the immediate 3.d3) 3. ... Lately nf6 4.d3, Black probably does best to decline with 4. ... e5, although their is no know bust of Black`s position after 4. ... As it is exd3 5.Bxd3.
There are other ways for White to play without offering a pawn, e.g. 1.c4 f5 2.Nc3 Nf6 3.g3 g6 4.Bg2 Bg7 5.e3 e5 6.Nge2 0-0 7.d3 d6 8.0-0 c6 9.b4.
There is a good book out which covers all this stuff - "Play the Dutch Defense Against 1.c4 & 1.Nf3" by DeVault & Hickman. Useful for the player of the White pieces, too.

The paradoxes of today are the prejudices of tomorrow, since the most benighted and the most deplorable prejudices have had their moment of novelty when fashion lent them its fragile grace.
