Crafty v15.16 - 2006/06/29 11:42
I think that ? is generally considered to be "losing". perhaps !? or some such notation could be applied, but dxc5 clearly isn`t a poor move here. White can try c4 himself and trade the cpawn for blacks d-pawn, or invite the advance to d4 where it will probably be lost. But ? it isn`t. First, here black can`t recapture with a pawn. The only chance is Bxc5... black has pawns at d5 and e6, the rest are still on their original squares except for the missing c pawn. In the book I use, c3 was played 3,355 times, while dxc5 was only played 80 times. As a result, the *only* move crafty will play in this position is c3. Unless someone is using something other than "the rock" book. If this crafty used something like "small" which comes from MCO10/11/etc, there are no complete games in it, and no repetitious moves either. So that it could play *any* move... Nowhere near -+, and I wouldn`t even say -=. In my opening book, there are 80 games (played by GM players) where white played this move. It is doubtful it is lost. ---------
I wish TV had a knob so you could turn up the intelligence. The one marked Brightness doesn't work.
