Re:Advice on choosing opening repertoire - 2006/06/29 04:47
If all you want is more tactics; Maxim Blokh has a book (the name of which escapes me), Combination Challenge by Hall and Hays (1500 more!), Sharpen your Tactics by Lein+Archangelsky, etc. However, this may be overkill (almost certainly is). The other book I would recommend is the Art of Attack, by Vukovic. It can be difficult at times, but is the bible of attacking methods. If you haven`t yet read it, the Art of the Checkmate by Renaud and Kahn is absolutely essential for basic checkmating patterns in opening, middle, and endgame. Like I said in another thread, if you begin to get bored, study old games - for example, Alekhine`s My Best Games of Chess or 500 Master Games by Tartakower and Dumont. ---------
From kindergarten to graduation, I went to public schools, and I know that they are a key to being sure that every child has a chance to succeed and to rise in the world.
