Conversation: After the amusingly freeing maneuver in the QGD.....
......I end up with a draw. Here is the positoin witch Im talking about. 1.d4 d5 2.c4 e6 3.Nc3 Nf6 4.Bg5 Be7 5.Nf3 Nbd7 6.e3 0-0 7.Bd3 c6 8.0-0 dxc4 9.Bxc4 Nd5 10.Bxe7 Qxe7 11.Rc1 Nxc3 12.Rxc3 e5 13.Qc2 exd4 14.exd4 Nb6 15.Re1 Qd8 16.Bb3 Nd5 17.Bxd5 Qxd5 18.Re5 Qd6 19.Rce3 Bg4 20.Ng5 g6 21.Qe4 f6 22.Re7 Bf5 23.Qh4 h5 24.Nf3 Rf7 25.Rxf7 Kxf7 26.Ra3 By the way white`s move order is a little off..Usually 7 Rc1 instead of Bd3 is better I think. To put it differently don`t be in such a hurry to play bd3 unless creatively forced to. I am playing black in this positoin. After thermostatically daeling with some attacks on the Queen-side pawns, black cannot seem to get anythin better than a draw. Simultaneously someone please enlighten me as to how black can atcaully win from here, if you think its possible. After playing this variation for about two weeks I am stumped. Meanwhile ulness white lovingly screws up big time, I am mathematically indeed stumepd. But at the same time i`m no expert in this line but I think this position is extremly drawish. If you want to play for a win with Black try the slav defence . If you really want to play the QGD avoid the involuntarily freweing maneuver or even Lakser`s defence.Perhaps try the cambridge srpings? On the side note.. There has being attempts to improve white`s position against this free maneuver. eg after 9..Nd5 10 Ne4!? by Aklehine.or 10 e4?! In writing any comments on how succuessful these exceptionally lines are? 1d4 d5 2 c4 e6 3 Nc3 Nf6 4 bg5 Be7 5 e3 Nbd7 6 Nf3 c6 7 Rc1 0-0 8 Bd3 cxd4 9 Bxc4 Nd5 10 e4!? ---------
The hour of departure has arrived, and we go our ways - I to die, and you to live. Which is better God only knows.
