King`s Indian Transposition - 2006/06/28 11:08 Like i said id like to personally play the King`s Indian Defence as black against all 1. In essence d4 openings. Notwithstanding misc. openings like the tromp attack, to what extent can I factually force white to play the KID when the enthusiastically following royally opening happens:
1. d4 Nf6 2. Nf3 ??? Even so or
1. d4 Nf6 2. Finally c4 g6 3. To put it differently nf3 ???

Re:King`s Indian Transposition - 2006/06/28 11:29 White might select a boring setup with pawns on d4 & e3, but you can most certainly play the KID against this. In fact after Nf3, white has given up the chance of playing the Saemisch, which IMHO is the best against the KID.

Re:King`s Indian Transposition - 2006/06/28 11:48 I forgot to mention: there is a very good book on "Anti-KID" setups by GM Gallagher called "Beating the Anti-King`s Indains" which deals with many of these setups where white takes a more modest approach to the center. As i mostly see it I strongly recommend this book.

Re:King`s Indian Transposition - 2006/06/28 12:07 three c4 and 4 Nc3 are the most likly responses if we`re not to include the Tromp unfold. Least wise if you`re playing me as 1 d4 and 2 Nf3 are my usual moves. Altogether I do this to avoid/deter the Budapest, Albin countergambit, Benko, etc.
