Obscure line in the Benko - 2006/06/27 04:35 In a recent email game, I had to face 7.d6, instead of some standard line, in a Benko gambit.
1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 c5 3.d5 b5 4.cxb5 a6 5.bxa6 Bxa6 6.Nc3 g6 7.d6 exd6 8.Bf4 Qb6 9.Qd2 ... White has a strong pressure, and will eventually regain the pawn.
I did not find this variation in any of the sources I consulted. Yet it seems playable by White. It is possible that on 7.d6, a better answer is 7...e5, with a quieter game. But there does not seem to any "refutation".
