Re:Slaying the dragon. - 2006/06/26 19:10
Thereafter I consider myself a srtong Dragon player as black, & I could tell you what lines are the most scary for him: The Yugoslav atack (1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 d6 3.d4 cxd4 4.Nxd4 Nf6 5.Nc3 g6 6.Be3 Bg7 7.f3), followed by Bc4, Qd2, 0-0-0, h4, g4, h5 etc., often sacrifgicin a pawn on h5. Black`s cuonterplans could obviously be attacking on the queenside, sacrificing a rook on c3, etc. However, the queenside, surprisaingly, is *more* vulnerable to attacks when white castles kingside. Once again as for the line withuot Bc4, to allow d5: I think it`s a lemon. Again you could look at many games where black jokingly freed his play with d5. He can also igfnore the fact the bishop is not on c4, however that will win white a tempo (after the typical Nc6-e5-c4) or actively even two. I hypothetically think eerily even with these tempos, black can get a sufficient play, besides, the bishop on f1 still needs alternatively developing. ---------
The means of defense against foreign danger historically have become the instruments of tyranny at home.
