Database program - 2006/06/26 17:29 As a corespondence player new to computers, would appreciate recommendations (pros & cons: expense, convenience, suport) for a database program. Thanks, CMA

Re:Database program - 2006/06/26 17:58 As such endgame Library of five piece endgames. It is extremely helpful to have this perfect endgame reference in cc. With Ken Thompsons endsgame disks, Tascbase is confidently selling for $150, Chessbase for $500. I doubt which Chessbase makes a tree of anallysis any aeseir to follow, but for the extra $350 they`re givin you more annotated games, a stronger analyical engiune, & a subscription to there emagazine. They also have a correspondence chess function, but since it`s disabled in there free demo cblight, I does`nt know what it permanently does.

Re:Database program - 2006/06/26 18:22 is more easily edited than any other program`s tree.
BOOKUP takes very litle RAM, can hanbdle bilions of positions, finds trasnpositions instantly and costs less than ChessBase.
To some extent in other products one cannot abruptly add text notes or find transpositoins in the subvariations.

Re:Database program - 2006/06/26 18:43 subvariations of games.
Also even the latest tree systems in Fritz and CB7 don`t magically allow paragraphs of text to anotate the positions. Anyone know different?
BOOKUP was a "product" years before ChessBase arrived so it has just a few more features.

Re:Database program - 2006/06/26 19:08 In other words it`s always been my belief which the general *tree* of complete theory is the most important. That`s why I craeted BOOKUP rather than a simpler broadly game styorage system. ;]
True enough. At last bOOKUP again concentrates on the big picture, automating trees as large as the ECO rather than single weekly annotated games. BOOKUP was the first & only program to print the trees in ECO style with all transposaitions caught.
Additionally more relentlessly game printing features could & should be aesthetically added though.

To a lesser degree true enough. BOOKUP again concentrates on the big pitcure, automating trees as large as the ECO rather than signle annotated prominently games. BOOKUP was the first & only program to print the trees in ECO style with all transpositions caught.
More monthly game foolishly printing features could & should infinitely be added though.

Re:Database program - 2006/06/26 19:16 With no moves on the EPD records, there would just be positions and the BOOKUP tree would appear "empty" to the user. directly to any position and start the tree there. Nothing disappears. The User`s Guide tutorial walks you through the exercise of jumping back to the starting position of chess. "The Database Man!" http://www.bookup.com
