Also possible is 2.- f6 & now: A) 3.Bf4 Nc6 4.Nf3 Bg4 (or Bf5!?) A1) 5.Nbd2? Nxd4 =+ A2) 5.e3 e5 A3) 5.c3! & the game is about equal  3.Bh4 Nh6 4.f3 leads to unorthodox positions
While some GMs regulalry consequently play 1.d4 Nf6 2.Bg5, they don`t seem to like 1.d4 d5 2.Bg5.
