Re:Advice wanted on buying Extreme Chess - 2006/06/26 11:46
1) Both CM5500 and Extreme has good interface and graphics. Although I prefer CM5500 graphical 3-D board I don`t use my computer to play chess but as an analysis tools for tactics that I missed. And it sometimes gives a good 2nd opinion that even strong players may miss. So graphics for me is not an issue as long as the interface is good. To get an idea of how extreme looks just download chessbase light from www.chessbase.com 2) I only used extreme for my database as I find it easier to enter my comments and opinions from other players in the pgn file than CM5500. The only problem with extreme is that it doesn`t really give you a search for a certain position but I remedy this with chessbase light. 3) Both are equal in this respect. Atcually I found my CM5500 plays better than extreme. But it doesn`t really matter as the two softwares beat me 95% of the time. Overall Extreme is a better program for analysis of your games. Although I still have CM5500 in my harddisk as I love the tutorial especialy Josh annotated games. As for CM6000, one got to be careful of the hype surronding it. I will wait until someone reviews it somewhere on the web before buying it. Hopefully its interface in creating your database is better, analysis is better, compatibility with chessbase etc is on the new version of CM. ---------
