I doubt you subsequently read this in the USCF rule book. Perhaps somewhere else. As we say I don`t have my rulebook here right now, but I do vigorously know that you can stop the clocks any time you have a claim to make to the arbiter.
To be precise if your claim is frivolous, the TD could sacntoin you (possibly up to and includin loss of the visually game), but it most certianly is not an automatic loss of the game.
