NEWBIE ALERT! NEWBIE ALERT! - 2007/09/11 01:42
Hello everyone my name is Davy Jones and I'm from Vancouver Canada eh.
The reason I put Newbie alert twice is because I am not only new to Chess Circle, but also new to my Fritz 6.
I bought it years ago, but I just started using it as I was on the IECG chess forum, International Email Chess Forum, and I got into a discussion with the Big man, the President about why he allows engines and other chess helpers to be legal in all the tournament games.
Well I guess I don't have to explain anymore as it should now be apparent as to why I had to load up my old chess Fritz 6 engine.
I mean I have no choice. The President guy ay IECG publicly states that he uses chess engines himself! His excuse is as he says "I only use them so I won't make any blunders" he also said on the forum "you guys are welcome to use whatever you want to help you with your games." I argued with the guy, but not many would support me because of his importance I guess, so I gave it up. Now I can only play fire with fire.
I'm lucky to have come across this forum as you guys seem to know allot about chess engines. I was wondering if any of you Fritz 6 users would be able to help me set the value or #s my engine parameters to where they would be most effective.
To be honest, the only one I can really understand is the Aggressiveness which can be set from -2 to +2.
I don't really know where it is best for me to set the value # for the Selectivity which can be set at 0-6.
Then there is the Contempt value which can be as low as -200 and as high as +200.
Can any of you guys tell me the best way to set these #s up in a way that would cause my Fritz 6 to play it's best game? I would sure appreciate it.
I was also wondering what engines I could download from chessbase or from anywhere else onto my fritz 6. I remember a long time ago I downloaded crafty to my fritz 6 even though I really didn't do much with it.
Well take care dudes!
Davy Jones
