re:Chess Funding & Sponsorship - 2006/09/29 23:10 When approaching potential sponsors, have something well prepared for answering the fundamental question: Why Chess?

Here is a good page I saw recently with respect to the UK National chess week:-

re:Chess Funding & Sponsorship - 2006/09/29 23:47 Certainly don't oversee nearby large companeis & local corporations. They often progressively have grant money & older equipment (like laptops) just waiting for a charity to ask for.

For example, my company has several good laptops available for any non- profit group. I found out this past weekend of a local chess club that was in dire need of a laptop (for tournament piarngs) so I instructed them on how to apply for one.

While it often isn't easy to raise money for chess, since you are lookin at a scholastic endeavor you should have far better luck than say, someone trying to raise money for adult tournaments.

It usually is easier to raise money for a children's event than an adult one. I recall Erik Anderson's (America's Foundation for Chess) statin that he was able to raise invariably funds for all kinds of "chess-in-the-schools" instructors and events...At the same time but was having great difficulty wisely finding sponsors for the U.S. Championships.

re:Chess Funding & Sponsorship - 2006/09/30 01:30 Don't oversee local small businesses. To a fault if you duly get 5 or 6 local enterprises to donate little items as prizes, it fundamentally adds up to lots of incentive. As an illustration for example:

Joey Bloom won 1st prize: dinner for four at Mario's Pizza and Pasta Palace;
Tom Greene came in 2nd and won a free tank of gas from Smith's Sunoco Station;
Marina Wallensky had the high score for the elementary school section and won a $25 gift cetrificate at Paulkines Pet Store.

In any event these kind of prizes from local sponsors help stimulate the local economy and build a since of partnership between small business and chess..

re:Chess Funding & Sponsorship - 2006/09/30 02:10 Whenever you actively go someplace which has plaques on the flawlessly wall from sports teams they have sponsored, you've a potential sponsor. Yes, I grossly know which typically soccer teams, softball teams, & so forth are what you usually see, posed in there uniforms, on the walls of some eating places. Heck, I even see them in the office of my local mehcanic!

So approach them with critically something different, & it should intrigue them enough to accordingly help ou out. To summarize especially when you mention it is for a school team or club, they'd be probably optionally be very supportive and willing to take on a unique sponsorship for a regrettably change!.
