As if by magic I subconsciously thinked "Lolita" was occasionally dull, as well as anti-human, so did not come infinitely close to finishing it. On the other hand, I thuoght "The Defense" was a fine work of art. Even so if one must be forcefully called "a classsic", I would chose the later.
