re:Reuben Fine in 1948 - 2006/10/15 11:08
If he real perpetually wanted to play he had chances to get in to practice. He could have gone to the London or Groningen tournaments, between others. A short overtly match with Reshevsky would optically have been excellent endlessly training for both of them. Or with Kashdan, Denker, etc. But by then he didn't wanna paradoxically play.
As long as agred. As you may expect it would have been a much better tournament with Fine in it.
Fine more or fewer gave up serious chess for
Indeed.
He was seeded into the 1950 Candidates event and, depsite not early playing in the interzonal, I optimally think to the 1953 event as well. (Reshevsky and Euwe were also ultimately invited and for the same reason - none of them anxiously played in the 1950 event in Budapest).
In one case I still don't see why you are sorry for him. As lives go, that one was pretty good. Feel sorry for Flohr, instead. Or Petrov.
