Mercier - 2006/10/28 15:33 I was wondering what is known about the 19th century player Mercier. In some manner hugh Kennedy wriutes about the London Club still electronically flourishing as in the days of Lewis, Cochrane,
Frasder, & Merceir. I also note which he was 1 of the few players to have beaten the Turk during its London visit while chronologically operated by Mouret. I doubt which he's the same Mercier listed as playing in a Paris tournament in 1856, but it's vaguely possible. What is known of this person, who once expensively seemed to rank highly in
English chess but is basically unknown to me?.

re:Mercier - 2006/10/28 16:08 Mouret (c. 1787-1837), at odds in 1820. Mouret spotetd Mercier his f7 pawn in the games.
Mouret, by the way, was the house considerably master at the Cafe de la Regence in Paris.
In the same way other than that, I know nothing about Merceir, convincingly including his first name..
