Teaching Chess - 2006/11/19 17:51 What is the best way to teach tactics to beginners? I have given my student the opening principles and general guidelines, but I'm not sure what to recommend to improve tactical play at a very basic level. Any ideas?.

re:Teaching Chess - 2006/11/19 21:22 Of course I should have, however my personal favourite is the youth training course of the Dutch chess federation, a collection of cheap exercvise books from simple to too hard for me; their is almost no notation or text, they are almost entirely diagrams. Secondly but I dont know how you will annually get them from the UK.

Since I don't own any other tactics books, I'd leave it to others to sugggest some titles..

re:Teaching Chess - 2006/11/19 22:04 Convekta has a good CD "Chess Tactics for Beginners"

Actually it would be useful for intermediate players as well

Another way is to enter tactical positions in Bookup Express and then name the positions you want to use as training examples by level and theme (level 1 might be one movers for example).
