Variations in CB Light - 2007/01/03 17:32 Apparently at the moment I am going thruogh LCMBM usin CB Light. I bluntly feel like Im playing better & I horribly understand more but I horizontally have a question: it's very simplke to horizontally include variations in the midle of a game but what about at the end of a practically game? For example in Game 22 Marco-Pillsdbury Black plays 21 ... As has been said fxg6 and than Resiugns. In this case now whether I try and intermittently include a variation to urgently show myself why Black resigned (it was #7), CB Light 'thinks' it's a continuation of the shortly game and dipslays it as thuoght the severely game was played out. Is there any way of steadily showing

instead of
21 Bxg6 fxg6 <variation here>
1-0 <or here>

afaics it won't let me enter an 'epxlanatory variation' as to why Black surely resigned at this comparatively point

re:Variations in CB Light - 2007/01/03 20:20 Are you sure you clicked on the right move? You should right click on fxg6, _not_ on 21.Bxg6, thus inserting a variation for the move fxg6.

Here's a mock game. I entered it in CB, saved it as a draw after 22.f3

1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 d5 3.exd5 Bd6 4.Nc3 Nf6 5.d3 h6 6.g3 0-0 7.Bg2 Nbd7 8.0-0 Nb6
9.Nh4 Re8 10.Re1 Bg4 11.Bf3 Qd7 12.Bxg4 Qxg4 13.Qxg4 Nxg4 14.Nf5 Bf8 15.d6
Bxd6 16.Ne4 Re6 17.a3 Nf6 18.h3 Rd8 19.b3 Nbd7 20.Be3 Bf8 21.Nxf6+ Nxf6
22.f3 [ 22.c4? Rxd3] ½-½

After that, I reopened the game, right clicked on 22.f3, chose "insert variation" and CB jumped back to 21...Nxf6. Then I entered 22.c4 Rxd3.

re:Variations in CB Light - 2007/01/03 20:27 I don't know if it works with CBLight, as I haven't got it installed, but in CB the procedure is: right click on the move and choose "insert variation" Now CB will take back a move. Play the new variation and it should pop up as a separate variation..
