Chess Diagram OCR - 2006/02/12 16:18Today OCR tools allow you to scan a chess diagram (jpg, gif, bmp) and save the position as a computer readable file (FEN, EPD, PGN, BRT, TeX, ...).
A good such tool is Chess Scan. Anyone knows of another one?. ---------

Re:Chess Diagram OCR - 2008/02/06 16:23There's a fine freeware called ChessPad which can be downloaded at http://www.wmlsoftware.com/chesspad.html. Besides being able to create, view and edit PGN databases, IT CAN create games and DIAGRAMS for use in WordPad, Microsoft Word or for HTML pages. You can also use Winboard-compatible chess engines for playing and analysis using the software. I use it to create diagrams for the chess columns I write daily in my country. If the creation of diagrams for use in word processors is what you're after, then ChessPad can definitely help you. Try it!
