Mystery game: Rogoff-Williams, World Junior, Stockholm, 1969 - 2006/02/18 02:10 Does anyonr have additional info on this game?

Note that the first capture took place on move 94. If this game is legit, Tim Krabbe will need to update his "latest first capture" file.

Two sources also mention that this game actually lasted 221 moves (no gamescores are given). Tim Krabbe does not mention it in his "10 longest games" list.

1) "Chess" - Oct. 1, 1969. Williams (Black, in the game below) reports on the event. ".... [Rogoff's] previous game, against me, had been drawn in 221 moves!"

2) From a autobiography/CV of Rogoff at:
http://post.economics.harvard.edu/faculty/rogoff/bio.html
".... my marathon game (from Stockholm 1969) against Britain's Arthur
Williams established a new record for the longest game ever played and was featured in the Guinness Book of World Records from 1971-73.".
There is a link to a scan of the page in the Guiness book at:

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.
